Our Rangers Atom AE boys are having a fun and busy season, on and off the ice. Their first charity initiative was a community fun drive to benefit SafetyNet, a local charity in Oakville that helps over 3,000 families in need. In this initiative the boys managed to raise over 6,000lb in goods that were then sold to Value Village, generating over $1,000 to SafetyNet. To get this amazing amount of gently used goods, the boys knocked on neighbors’ doors, unloaded cars that brought donations and loaded a truck and minivan full of goods and showcased amazing team spirit in the process. After that, they joined other Oakville Rangers teams on the gift of giving initiative (food drive), where they raised over 2,000lb in non-perishable food, ranking amongst the top teams in their age group. To close 2019 and embracing the holiday season, the boys helped 2 families have an unforgettable Christmas. They collected toys, clothes, gift cards and food to give to those families (specially the kids). They delivered the presents to the family’s home singing carols and wearing Santa’s hats, bringing the moms on those families to tears. Over all these initiatives they demonstrated great pride in wearing the Oakville Rangers jersey, being part of the team, but above all they have developed citizenship values, giving back to their community and those in need.
Winners will be announced Mar. 2020
