Lindsay Muskies Atom AE Team The Lindsay Muskies Atom AE Team give their all on the ice, so it was only natural for them to give their all off the ice and fundraise for a good cause. They brainstormed on donation ideas and when one team member described how his family recently spent time at the Palliative Care Unit at Ross Memorial Hospital, and how the staff there helped his family through this difficult time, the Muskies decided it would be their mission to pay the kindness forward. The team leapt into fundraising action. They went door to door doing numerous bottle drives, shovelled drive ways, piled wood and helped neighbours take out garbage & recycling, even during some of the coldest days on record. One player set up a Facebook fundraising page and the Muskies became “Celebrity Servers” for a night at our local Boston Pizza where they helped the wait staff and asked patrons to donate their meal receipt so a portion of the proceeds could go to this important cause. We couldn’t be prouder of our Muskies and the reception from the community was overwhelming too. Every person they talked with was impressed to see a group of young kids raising money for a cause that touches many. Fundraising in our community for our local Palliative Care Unit was a character-building experience for our team that’s beyond measure. The Muskies raised over $1300 which will help the Palliative Care Unit replace equipment and buy supplies as well as provide continuing education for the staff. Way to go Muskies!!!!
