Mount Albert, ON
Right from day one this team came together with the mindset that it’s about giving back. The Novice A team, who were taught about the hockey community and hockey family from a young age (tyke year), also showed that it doesn’t stop there. That it is important to also work as a family and look outward. The players through their actions, and support of the coaches and families worked to inspire and provide opportunities for other children to learn how to skate, who otherwise may not have an opportunity to do so. The team had a bake sale, where players helped bake, sell items and educate our community, which in turn raised over $1000 for the Canadian Blind Hockey Association. This organizations runs a youth/child blind hockey program and that money goes towards purchasing the proper gear and equipment, as well lessons for these children. Our Novice Team wanted to help this organization because they feel that everyone, regardless of abilities or income should have an opportunity to fall in love with the sport of hockey. This team has shown dedication, generosity and compassion throughout the season in other ways as well. They have volunteered their time in the Atlas eco feature at the East Gwillimbury sports complex to build and create a beautiful garden for all to enjoy. They also worked very hard to bring in 1097.3lbs of non-perishable food for the food bank during the hockey 4 hunger challenge in November. Vote for the Eagles!
